I live a pretty stressful life - juggling between busy days at work and family, so I thought I need some stress-reliever. I'm glad I found this supplement from Herbolab because it's the only thing that's helped me improve my moods so far. My stress levels aren't only kept at bay, but I'm also more energized everyday. Thanks, Herbolab!

I've been having sort of gradual effects from this ashwagandha supplement so for now I'm leaving this with three stars. I'll see how else this helps me in the next couple of weeks.

I have been having trouble with my mental focus lately and decided to try this ashwagandha from herbolab. I noticed great improvements within just a week and it continues to help me feel better overall. Highly recommended, I swear it's worth trying.

Ashwagandha KSM-66®

Flagship Herb of Ayurveda Medicinal Practices

ashwagandha-root-indiaWhat Is Ashwagandha?

Ashwagandha, known as Withania somnifera, Indian ginseng, and poison gooseberry is a plant that comes from the Solanaceae family.

The name of ‘ashwagandha’ is a combination of words ‘ashva’ meaning horse, and ‘gandha’ meaning smell. It refers to the fresh root’s horsey smell and the traditional belief that the intake of this herb will give you the potency and strength of a horse.

Commonly used as a medicinal remedy in Ayurvedic medicine, there are several other species in this genus that are morphologically similar to it.

Ashwagandha is one of the best herbs in Ayurveda (the traditional medicine system that is native to India.) Beyond reducing the stress levels in some people, it may improve the physical performance of both athletes and sedentary people. It also has been shown to help treat Alzheimer’s disease, improve the formation of memories, and is used for fertility problems in men and women.

Ashwagandha is known as an adaptogen and is primarily used as an aid for its ability to prevent anxiety.

Many of the other health benefits are related to the high concentration of withanolides, which have been known to fight tumor growth and inflammation.

Ashwagandha

Reduces Anxiety and Stress*

Ashwagandha root extract has shown, in several studies, to lower cortisol levels in those who were stressed. *† It has also been shown to boost overall health, resulting in a reduction in stress. *† Studies have shown one way it does this is by reducing cortisol levels, “stress hormone”, and keeping it from becoming chronically elevated. If cortisol levels are elevated they can cause further stress and stress-induced diseases. *† [1]Andrade, C., Aswath, A., Chaturvedi, S. K., Srinivasa, M., & Raguram, R. (2000). Supports Healthy Testosterone Levels*

There have been some links found between high stress and it’s ability to cause lower testosterone levels. Ashwagandha has been shown in several studies to help reduce stress levels as mentioned above.*† For some men, the stress-reducing effects of ashwagandha may have a positive impact on testosterone, even if it is indirectly. There are some studies however that have shown that ashwagandha can raise testosterone levels significantly. *† [3]Kumar, V., Dey, A., Hadimani, M. B., & Emerald, M. (2015). Increase Muscle Mass and Strength*

One study reported that ashwagandha supplementation was tied to solid increases in muscle mass and strength suggesting ashwagandha supplementation could prove useful when used with resistance training. *† It has also been shown to increase help velocity, power, and VO2 max.*† [5]Tiwari, R., Chakraborty, S., Saminathan, M., Dhama, K., & Singh, S. Increases Endurance*

Ashwagandha also has positive effects on one ’s physical performance. The revitalizing properties of Ashwagandha can help you to increase stamina and endurance. *† As a powerful adaptogen, it helps the body to maintain a balanced state under stress and also improves the recovery time.*† [8]Wadhwa, R., Kalra, R. Supports Reproductive Health*

Ashwagandha influences the testicles, and by doing so, it helps promote fertility in men that have low sperm quality and mobility. *† Ashwagandha helps regulate the hormone levels, balances mood, and calms the mind, thereby improving the body’s response to stress cortisol. *† The herb also counters the effect of toxic agents that could inhibit the reproductive ability of the individuals. *† [9]Ahmad, M. Benefits For Women and Menopause*

During menopause, your body experiences various hormonal imbalances that cause anxiety, depression, and hot flashes. Ashwagandha has been shown to have positive effects on the management of menstrual syndrome. *† It works by assisting the endocrine system by regulating the secretion of the hormone and alleviating these symptoms. If you are about to reach menopause, you should start by speaking to your medical care provider about the use of ashwagandha to help control possible symptoms. Why Choose Herbolab’s

Ashwagandha?

1. We Provide Pure and Genuine KSM-66 Ashwagandha With the Highest Concentration Full-spectrum Root Extract on the Market Today

Herbolab’s Ashwagandha is KSM-66, which is a process of creating an extract of the ashwagandha root that took more than 14 years of R&D to develop and refine. This is the best extract on the market today when it comes to having the highest concentration of ‘full-spectrum’ extract. Full-spectrum means that the process of extraction maintains the balance of the numerous constituents of the original herb, without having more or less of any one constituent. This complex blend of active constituents is believed to be the key to ashwagandha’s efficacy. To get the best possible extract, these constituents need to be present in their natural proportions. This is why it’s important to be a full-spectrum extract.

2. Standardized To Guarantee a Minimum Withanolide Content Of 5% By HPLC

With our ashwagandha, you get ashwagandha that is made using a patented extraction method that ensures maximum withanolides content. Not all ashwagandha products are equal. Withanolides may not be at their maximum potential due to the extraction process used, especially if not standardized and full-spectrum extraction. This results in a product with low efficacy. Herbolab uses ashwagandha from a patented Indian extraction method that uses ‘Green Chemistry’ processing, to ensure maximum withanolide content and maintain all the healing properties of the herb. This is done without using any alcohol or synthetic solvents, that can cause a bitter taste to the herb. Our Ashwagandha is standardized to guarantee a minimum withanolide content of 5% by HPLC, derived from the roots of the plant only (no leaves).

3. Our Ashwagandha Contains Black Pepper For Maximum Absorption

Black pepper is a commonly used spice and is most noted for it’s biting quality. This is caused by it’s most abundant alkaloid, piperine. Bioavailability in herbal supplements has been shown to be greatly increased by piperine. It does this by stimulating digestive enzymes of the pancreas, enhancing the digestive capabilities and greatly reducing gastrointestinal food transit time. Just 5g has been shown to increase these levels by reducing the clearance of the supplement. An added benefit of piperine is that it has been shown to protect against oxidative damage in vitro. [16]de Souza Grinevicius, V. M. A., Kviecinski, M. R., Mota, N. S. R. S., Ourique, F., Castro, L. S. E. P. W., Andreguetti, R. R., … & Pedrosa, R. C. (2016). Piper nigrum ethanolic extract rich in piperamides causes ROS overproduction, oxidative damage in DNA leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in cancer cells. Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 189, 139-147. doi.org/10.1016/j.jep.2016.05.020
