Ashwagandha has been used as a staple herb in Ayurvedic medicine in India for thousands of years. Also known as Indian ginseng or winter cherry and its plant name Withania somnifera (meaning “sleep-inducing” in latin), this adaptogen has been used to support healthy stress levels and as well as many other health benefits.

    What Is Ashwagandha KSM-66?

KSM-66 is an extraction process using a proprietary procedure of extraction that is based on “Green-Chemistry” principles. The process does not use any chemical solvents or alcohol in the extraction process.

The extraction process is a result of more than 14 years of research and development to perfect the process so it maintains the ratios provided in nature.

    Full-Spectrum Ashwagandha Root Extract

Another feature of the KSM-66 extraction process is that maintains all the natural constituents of the herb in the original balance making it the highest concentration full-spectrum ashwagandha root extract on the market.

    Standardized Ashwagandha 5 Withanolides

Most standardized ashwagandha extracts contain 2.5% withanolides. KSM-66 has the highest percentage of ashwagandha withanolides of all root-only extracts available today. It has more than 5% concentration of withanolides as measured by HPLC.

    Ashwagandha Taste

You will find that a lot of ashwagandha products are bitter in taste. The name of ‘ashwagandha’ is a combination of the word ‘ashva’ meaning horse, and ‘gandha’ meaning smell. It refers to the fresh root’s horsey smell and the traditional belief that intake of this herb will give you the potency and strength of a horse.

A good thing about KSM-66 extraction is it uses a pre-treatment process using milk which gives it a neutral taste and does not use a hydroalcoholic extraction which makes the ashwagandha bitter in taste in their products.

    Is Ashwagandha Safe?

Ashwagandha safety is important to us here at Herbolab. Maybe you’re wondering if ashwagandha safe? The KSM-66 ashwagandha has negligible levels of Withaferin A, a widely recognized cytotoxic withanolide.

This is because of the root-only extraction process and not using the leaves as part of the product which can contain the withaferin A.

Also, KSM-66 is processed has a high number of certifications. The process and facility have undergone a great deal of inspections and safety assessments and have earned the labels of GMP (USP, NSF, NPA-UL, WHO), 100% USDA Organic, Non-GMO (Non-GMO Project Verified), Gluten Free (by GFCO), BSCG-drug free, Kosher, Halal, HACCP and several others.
